The Wallace and Area Museum Society History
In 1983 interested citizens joined together to plan a celebration for the 1984 bicentennial of the coming of the United Empire Loyalists to Wallace in 1784. One of the proposals from those celebrations was to establish a summer time museum.

From the success of the first year of operation, volunteers saw a vital need for collecting, preserving and displaying local history. The Wallace and Area Museum Society is in its 28th year of operation.

The museum is operated by a small full and part time staff and many volunteers.
Staff: David Dewar, Tammy Allen, Jim Reeves and various summer students.

Museum Board of Directors: Doris Purdy, President; Warren Hebb, Vice President; Doug Perry, Secretary; Zella Perry, Treasurer.

Directors: Barbara Clark, Marion Dotten, Bernice Elliott, Harvey Gullon, Jan Gullon, Margaret Boyle, David Boyle, Alistair Dow and Linda Durand.
